The town of Tryavna is located in central Bulgaria, and is close to the ancient towns of Veliko Tarnovo, Garbovo and Dryanovo. The town is situated on the northern slopes of the Balkan mountain. It is a small, rural town which is steeped in history and with a rich cultural heritage. The town is home to the oldest art school in Bulgaria which is famous for its wood carvings and icon paintings. The climate at Tryavna is gentle in the summer and mild in the winter.
